The Bulgarian state has existed for thirteen centuries; it has rich cultural and historical heritage, uniquely preserved folklore and beautiful crafts. Bulgaria is famous all over the world for the superb variety of grapes, grown on its lands. The producing of wine has ancient traditions in Bulgaria. Ages ago Thracians were known for the delicious wine they prepared, which is proved by the archaeologists - remains of ancient Thracian winery places are found in the Bulgarian lands.
Wine producing in Bulgaria goes back to ancient times. The first producers were Thracians – the oldest local inhabitants of these lands. Most of Thracian world famous golden treasures consist predominantly of wine vessels. Thracian wines were thick and very strong, later the Greeks and Romans diluted them with water as they themselves learned the tricks of wine making.
Day 1: Sofia. Arrival and meeting at Sofia Airport. Transfer to hotel. Accommodation. Half day long city in the main center. Sofia - capital of contemporary Bulgaria, fifth capital of the country in the course of its 1300 years history, comfortable huddled in the foot of the proud Vitosha Mountain. The town was established in the Vth Century BC as a Thracian settlement with the name Serdika. The Slavonic people called the town Sredez. And later it received its present name from the ancient Roman church "St. Sofia" which could still be seen nowadays. Tremendously beautiful, the town is a member of the 100 National Tourist Sites of Bulgaria. The town of Koprivshtitsa is the best preserved architectural reserve in Bulgaria.

Day 4-Starossel -“The Storry of the Tracians”! In 2000 during archaeological excavations in the region of the villahe of Starossel was discovered the grandiose Thracian Temple /5-4 century BC/ ever found. It is surrounded by a stone wall /up to 5 m high and 240 m long/ made of huge stone blocks. Tens of burial mounds were found nearby, some of them containing tomb-mausoleums of Thracian rulers of the 5 - 4th century BC.The tombs contain extremely valuable articles - golden jewellery, a set of silver adorning, etc.

Day 6-Plovdiv -city tour. It is declared an architectural museum reserve with over 150 monuments of culture - houses from the National Revival period. Its magnificent houses are turned into museums, galleries, workshops, restaurants. There are also parlors and studios of painters and wood-carvers. Families from Plovdiv own many of those houses. The most distinguished examples of the Baroque of Plovdiv are the house of Koiumjioglu (now an ethnographical museum), the house of Georgiadi (now the Rennaissance museum of the national struggle), the house of Nedkovich (the municipality), the gallery of the renowned Bulgarian painter Zlatyo Boyajiev, the house of Balabanov (now a gallery of modern painting, as well as a concert hall). UNESCO awarded Plovdiv a gold medal for architecture in 1979.

Day 7-“Relax day” Visit a mineral pool in Hissar !Today Hissar is a flourishing resort of national importance with more than 20 mineral springs. The mineral water’s temperature is 24 to 49oC and its flow is 40 liters per second. The mineral water is light, clear, colorless, flavorless and tasty. It is slightly mineralized, hypo- and hyper-thermal, with a predominance of hydrocarbonic, sodium, sulphate and fluorine ions, as well as substantial amounts of radio radioactive gas.characterized as slightly mineralized, hidrocarbonic-sulphate-sodium, with a high alkaline reaction (pH 8.3 to 9.02). It cures diseases of the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, gastritis, diabetes and many more. The most famous spring is the one in Momina Banya (Maiden Bath) residential area. During the age of the Roman Empire the town (called Augusta by the Romans) was a wealthy resort center with Emperor’s palaces, wide stone streets, marble baths, a lot of statues of Roman Gods and a luxuriant vegetation. After being burnt down by the Goths in the 3 rd century, it was rebuilt in the beginning of the 4 th, this time with high defensive walls. During the 5 th and 6 th centuries the town reached its zenith, being part of the Bysantine Empire. When the Turks invaded Bulgaria, the town put up a rugged resistance, for which it was annihilated and the population was massacred. It was in the 17 th century when the Turks appreciated its natural assets and re-populated the ex-resort, giving its present name – Hissar (Fortress), because of the many fortress remains in it.
